Book Buyback Program
At the beginning
and end of each quarter the Bay Tree Bookstore provides an opportunity for students
to sell back used, unwanted coursebooks. The choice to sell your books is yours.
Dates:
| See main Textbook page for quarterly Buy Back dates. |
Location: Buyback
window at the Bay Tree Bookstore.
Top Value:
Your coursebook must meet all of the following conditions:
- Is the current
edition.
- In good condition.
- Has been ordered
by the faculty for the next quarter.
- Is needed for
stock by the bookstore
We will pay up to
60% of the new list price of the book, regardless of whether you bought the book
new or used. These books stay on campus and enable other students to save money.
Market Value:
Books of current edition not requested by the faculty for the upcoming quarter
or needed for stock by the bookstore can be sold at going market price, which
will vary, usually from 10-30% of the list price. The agent buying these books
will ship them to warehouses and take a chance that they can be sold to other
schools. The Bookstore has this agent here as a service to buy those books we
are unable to purchase for course use.
Personal Value:
Only some books have little or no value on the resale market, and are better kept
in your library. Some examples are "mass-market" paperbacks, books which have
changed edition, gone out-of-print, or are damaged.
Books have significant educational value above and beyond any resale potential.
We encourage students to sell their books only if they are certain they will have
no further need of them as a resource in the immediate future.
